Rain Garden Information

801 S. Highland Ave., Baltimore, MD 21224
In 2013, students and members of the Canton and Highlandtown neighborhoods in Baltimore replaced 7,000 sq. ft. of pavement in a parking lot with native plants. This patch of urban green -- called the I Wonder Garden -- contains more than 25 native plant species. It educates students and neighbors about how nature works and helps heal the environment. The garden slows the rush of unfiltered storm water from streets to Baltimore's harbor, collecting and filtering an estimated 130,000 gallons a year.
