October 2013 - The Grace Lutheran rain garden was constructed by Brightfields Inc. Environmental Consulting including sod removal, a rock swale connection to an existing swale, berms seeded and mulch. The Church Planting Team planted over 320 native plants in the rain garden which included species such as a serviceberry, lowbush blueberries, switchgrass, New England aster, wild pink, wild bergamot, obedient plant, black eyed susan, rough goldenrod and wild blue indigo. The Rain Gardens for the Bays campaign provided $2,400 and United Water $800 for the construction of the rain garden, plants and mulch. Church members volunteered 175 hours toward this project.
